Graduate Assistant at FPU Only - Residence Director
Requires an undergraduate degree from an accredited institution and acceptance into a graduate studies program at Franklin Pierce University (acceptance must be confirmed before the candidate is considered).
Job Summary:
The Graduate Residence Director - Residential Life will work closely with the Residential Life team to support the residential community at Franklin Pierce University. Reporting to the Associate Director of Housing Operations, this position will primarily focus on assisting with the day-to-day operations of residential life, including overseeing residential intentional interactions and student support follow-up for low-level incidents, supporting student engagement and late night/weekend programming, and fostering a positive living environment for all students.
The GRD will help implement community-building initiatives, provide functional supervision of Resident Assistants (RAs), mentor and advise residence hall councils, assist with residence hall operations, and assist in the development of programs that promote student success, well-being, and inclusion within the residential community. This position is a live-in position that is provided with on campus housing. In addition to the above responsibilities, the ARDs will participate in the Residence Life on Call (ROC) rotation in addition to 19 hours a week. ARDs typically serve 2-3 weeks of on call per semester which includes Fall, Spring, and Summer.
Experience and Qualifications:
- At least 1-3 years of student leadership experience, preferably in a residence life or student affairs setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and support students from diverse backgrounds.
- A passion for student development, residential education, and creating inclusive, supportive campus environments.
- Ability to assist in the design and delivery of educational programming and events that foster a sense of community and belonging among students.
- Experience with conflict resolution and mediation preferred.
- Candidate must be accepted to Franklin Pierce University’s graduate program before application will be considered.
- Must be willing to live on campus and participate in an on-call duty rotation.
- A sense of humor is a plus.
