The Fitzwater Center presents a wide variety of programs throughout the year, from film screenings and lectures, to webcasts of official University ceremonies, to workshops with media professionals. The event assistants will provide support to Fitzwater Center staff in all aspects of event planning and delivery; duties may include researching speakers and community organizations, event promotion via email and social media, press releases, designing and distributing posters, general office tasks (data entry, photocopying, scanning, organizing), helping to carry equipment to various locations on campus (and back), event setup and cleanup, greeting and assisting event participants, taking photos at events, and other tasks as assigned.
Experience and Qualifications:
Mac OS, MS Office, social media literacy, willing to learn new technology as assigned punctual, reliable, courteous, able to work both independently and with a team, comfortable interacting with students, faculty, staff, and the public. Must dress appropriately in business casual attire for events.
Hours will vary based on our schedule of events. You will have a set schedule of 2-4 regular weekly hours, plus events, which may require evening hours, and occasionally weekend hours. At the job interview, we will go over our schedule of events; while we do not require that you be available for every event of the year, we are looking for people who can commit to a certain number of events.
