Job Summary:

The Graduate Assistant for Student Engagement is to work primarily on the function and quality of our large scale and club programs.  Assist the Director in administrative functions of Student Engagement, which includes facilities management, program management and implementation, scheduling, risk management and supervision of the student staff.

General Responsibilities: 

  • Assist with oversight of club programs, which includes creation of Fall and Spring schedules, event planning, event management, risk management policies and procedures, program assessment and review.
  • Responsible for supporting club programs, to include facility supervision, administration, occasional off-campus supervision, assisting with new program development.
  • Assist in the compliance of all risk management procedures.
  • Assist in the management of all Student Engagement facilities, which includes special event support, internal coordination of facility reservations and the direction of the customer service provided by the student staff.
  • Assist in the coordination of special events, which includes coordinating event management, staffing, securing necessary equipment, establishing usage fees, rental contracts, and liability and insurance forms.
  • Assist in the management of facility reservations, to include creating/updating master calendars, processing reservation requests, follow-up calls, and handling pre and post function arrangements. 
  • All other duties assigned by the Director of Student Engagement and Recreation.

Qualifications:

  • At least 1-3 years of successful experience in student leadership
  • Direct experience with co-curricular club programs
  • The willingness and desire to be successful in the administrative function of this position
  • A demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with students and a diverse group of faculty and staff
  • An enthusiastic commitment to student involvement in the programming and administrative aspects of Student Engagement; strong written and verbal communication skills.  
  • Keen marketing ability and software mastery of Microsoft Office highly recommended. 

Academic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Candidate must be accepted to Franklin Pierce graduate school before GA application will be considered.

Physical Requirements:

  • Physically able to lift various materials up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • While performing required job tasks, physically able to remain seated, frequently to continuously.
  • Frequent walking, standing, and other physical activities will be required 75% of the time.
  • While performing required job tasks, physically able to remain standing up to 25% of the time.

Possesses dexterity abilities required to perform typing, operate a computer and other office equipment, to perform filing, and related job responsibilities

Schedule:

Monday through Friday, 20 hours per week, but flexible to meet the department’s needs.  To assist with facility coverage, evening office hours will be the norm during club event coverage.
