Students at FPU Only - Depot Production Assistant

Position Summary:

  • Check-in/check-out of A/V equipment. Complete all paperwork with signatures and student id number.
  • Log reservations of equipment/editing suites and complete check-in/check-out forms for equipment.
  • Ensure equipment functionality upon check-out/return. Note any malfunctioning equipment and report it to the Media Technical Specialist immediately.
  • Assist students with basic troubleshooting of field, studio, editing programs and related software including but not limited to Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Audition. 
  • Assist in Fitzwater Center Productions, in the field or in the studio, including but not limited to events, Tuesday Briefings and other shows, podcasts, public service announcements or University promotional videos. These require evening and weekend work. Must dress appropriately in business casual attire for events.
  • Enforce all policies set forth by the Director of the Marlin Fitzwater Center for Communication, the Media Technical Specialist, and Faculty/Staff.
  • Additional requests of the Depot Production Assistants will be handled in accordance with availability and competence of the Depot Production Assistant on staff at the time of the request 
  • Depot Production Assistants have access to secured areas for the purpose of completion of scheduled job responsibilities only. No special privileges are accorded Depot employees.

Experience and Qualifications:

Must demonstrate basic production skills and have a willingness to improve these skills and learn new technologies.

Special Notes:

We are looking for a few good humans to work as Depot Production Assistants. The Depot Production Assistants must demonstrate basic production skills and have a willingness to improve these skills and learn new technologies. While on duty in the depot, there will be access to learn when not checking in/out equipment. However, this is not an opportunity to do your homework or embed yourself in your phone. This is a hands-on, physically active position that requires interfacing with students, faculty and staff in a responsible and professional manner. Troubleshooting and the ability to stay calm under pressure is very important. Interviews will be conducted by the Media Technical Specialist.

Hours will vary according to the schedule of productions. We need people who are available to work in the field for special events in addition to working a weekly shift in the depot.
