Franklin Pierce University (FPU) is seeking a energetic and dedicated individual to serve as the Head Coach for our Men’s and Women’s Cross Country and Track & Field programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of both programs, ensuring compliance with all NCAA, Northeast-10, and institutional rules and regulations, while fostering an environment that reflects the University’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the University’s men’s and women’s cross country and track & field programs.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive coaching strategy for both individual and team success, with a focus on skill development and competitive performance.
  • Instruct, coach, and mentor student-athletes in all aspects of cross country and track & field, with the majority of coaching occurring in person.
  • Monitor student-athletes' academic performance to ensure their academic success and compliance with University standards.
  • Recruit, retain, and mentor high-quality student-athletes in compliance with NCAA and institutional regulations.
  • Ensure the recruitment of student-athletes aligns with the University’s enrollment goals.
  • Coordinate all logistics for home and away competitions, including team travel, transportation, and lodging.
  • Manage the procurement and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
  • Organize and schedule practices, competitions, and other related events.
  • Participate in fundraising and public relations efforts to support the program’s growth and visibility.
  • Cultivate positive relationships within the campus community, including students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
  • Oversee budget management, ensuring financial sustainability for the program.
  • Hire, supervise, and develop a coaching staff committed to excellence and personal growth.
  • Maintain a flexible work schedule to meet the demands of the position, including early mornings, nights, and weekends.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive environment for students, staff, and alumni.
  • Serve as a Responsible Employee under the College’s Sexual Misconduct Policy, reporting incidents of misconduct or violence to the Title IX Coordinator.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of coaching experience or an equivalent combination of experience, training, and/or education that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential duties of the role.
  • Proven success in recruiting student-athletes.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • High proficiency with computer applications, including MS Word, Excel, and email.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Knowledge of NCAA, Northeast-10, and institutional rules and regulations.
  • Experience in fundraising, public relations, and budget management.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs.
