Position Summary:
The Clinical Coordinator serves as the Clinical Coordinator for the MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program and reports to the Program Director of the CMHC program. The Clinical Coordinator will work to establish and maintain clinical site placements for CMHC students. The Clinical Coordinator will also be responsible for ensuring placement paperwork is completed in a timely manner, secured appropriately, and updated as needed. Additionally, the Clinical Coordinator will develop and implement trainings for the site supervisors to ensure they understand student and program needs; professional development trainings will also be developed and provided. This position is also a faculty position, which will require the individual to serve as core faculty in the CMHC program. The faculty member will maintain a teaching load, engage students in an online learning environment, maintain office hours, serve as a student advisor, and will be required to participate in yearly on-campus intensives with students. Core faculty members will also need to retain a professional identity as a counselor by engaging in the professional counseling community via professional organization membership, conference attendance, research, and/or other professional involvement opportunities.


Typical Schedule:
This is a remote position. The expected work schedule for all employees is Monday through Friday. As an exempt employee the schedule may vary based on the number of hours needed to meet the job responsibilities. The individual holding this position must be available early morning, evening, and weekends as well as holidays, depending on the needs of the University, College, and Program.

Job Responsibilities and Essential Functions of the Position:

Clinical Coordination:
  • Develop site placements for students that meet the needs and interests of students and
  • maintain these sites in a professional manner.
  • Maintain and make necessary adjustments to the Field Experience handbook, site
  • placement paperwork, and any additional field placement related documentation.
  • Provide a field placement orientation to students prior to the start of practicum.
  • Orient site placement supervisors to the FPU CMHC program.
  • Ensure prospective site placements have all of the requirements to supervise a student as
  • outlined by the FPU CMHC program and CACREP.
  • Work with the Program Director to develop and implement ongoing training for site
  • supervisors.
  • Support students in finding and obtaining site placements.
  • Maintain contact with sites.
  • Understand CACREP requirements for student field experiences.
  • Provide regular updates to the Program Director regarding site placements and student
  • experiences at sites.
  • Other responsibilities as determined by the program and Program Director.
  • Enter and maintain student clinical data in the tracking software.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of documents by other staff, faculty, students or
  • individuals external to the department or university.
  • Troubleshoot concerns related to field experience students and/or rotation sites.
  • Monitor students’ progress during field experiences.
  • Review site and student evaluations and notify the Program Director when immediate
  • concerns arise.
  • Help coordinate on-campus immersion activities related to field experiences.
  • Instructional:
  • Demonstrated ability to teach a variety of courses in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
  • Teach the required assigned course load for the program.
  • Actively seek ways to improve didactic and clinical instruction.
  • Maintain familiarity with current texts, materials, teaching aids and techniques relative to
  • courses within the discipline and recommend their adoption when appropriate.
  • Actively seek ways to improve instruction.
  • Attend, participate, and assist the Program Director with the planning and
  • implementation of yearly on-campus intensives.
  • Complete grading and assignment feedback and provide to students in a timely manner.
  • Provide regular assigned office hours for students.
  • Engage in student advisement.
  • Institutional Service:
  • Actively participate in assisting the College in maintaining standards required for
  • programmatic and regional accreditation.
  • Participate in full regalia in official graduation ceremonies.
  • Attend other official functions as needed.
  • Maintain a program of personal and professional development appropriate for areas of
  • responsibility.
  • Maintain state-of-the-art knowledge and competence in the appropriate academic
  • disciplines.

Position Requirements/Skills/Abilities:
  • Doctoral Degree in Counselor Education, preferably from a CACREP-accredited program. ABD will be considered; all degree requirements must be met prior to start date.
  • A minimum of two years of experience as a practicing clinical mental health counselor.
  • A preferred minimum of two years of experience in CMHC education; record of excellence in teaching.
  • A record of professional and community service; involvement with the CMHC community via professional membership and service.
  • Licensed or license-eligible within the State of New Hampshire and/or state of residence.
  • Demonstrated excellence in classroom teaching and clinical supervision, including proficiency in residential and online instructional technology.
  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment with changing priorities and multiple responsibilities.

  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office software, specifically, Word, Excel, and Outlook as well as the ability to stay current with emerging office technologies. Proficient in the University’s on-line education software.
  • Accept and render constructive criticism in a professional manner.
  • In general, maintain the highest degree of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality at all times.
