Position Summary:
We are seeking candidates for a full-time, one-year contract position as a Visiting Assistant Professor position. Candidates will demonstrate their commitment to excellence in teaching, community service, and academic contributions and who would enrich the growth and success of the Sports & Recreation Management program. Non-teaching assignments include curricula and instructional development, academic advising, office hours, and assisting students with course registration. With mutual agreement, this visiting professor position will renewed for a second year. Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach selected in-person undergraduate sports and recreation management courses:
    • Principles of Sports and Rec Management
    • Programming of Sports and Rec Management
    • Sports and Recreation Marketing
    • Inclusive Sports and Recreation
    • Sports and Rec Facilities Management
    • Fitness Management
    • Trends and Issues in Sports and Recreation
  • Provide high-quality advising and mentoring to students
  • Engage in ongoing program assessment
  • Supervise internships and independent studies, when appropriate
  • Foster a collaborative academic environment by contributing to cross-disciplinary efforts and promoting innovation in teaching methods
  • Make recommendations about curriculum enhancements
  • Maintain a continuous program of applied research, consulting initiatives, and professional development, as appropriate.
  • Participate in service activities within the department, university, and the sports management profession.

About the School of Business:
  • The School offers both BS and MBA degrees, with a dedicated team of 8 full-time faculty and 20 part-time faculty members.
  • Our MBA program provides a fully online experience, along with a three-plus-one program model for undergraduates to earn an MBA.
  • Faculty actively contributes to ongoing program assessment, supporting our IACBE accreditation and continuous improvement.
  • Faculty members are encouraged to develop new courses and innovative teaching approaches as part of our commitment to continuous pedagogical enhancement.
  • The typical faculty teaching load is four on-campus courses per semester, with most programs offering online course options.
  • Class sizes range from 15 to 28 students, providing a supportive and engaging learning environment on our Rindge, New Hampshire campus.

Qualifications:
  • A Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) or comparable degree with a focus in Sports Management or a related business field from an accredited institution is required, with doctoral degree or ABD preferred.
  • Preferred candidates should have teaching experience in areas such as sports management, sports marketing, data analytics, or general management/operations. Practitioner work experience in these areas is highly desirable.
  • A strong commitment to high-quality teaching is essential, with a demonstrated ability to engage students effectively across multiple teaching modalities.
  • Active involvement in professional engagement, applied research, and service is encouraged and expected in this role.
  • The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for providing high-quality, student-centered advising and mentoring to support student success.
